Bivol vs Beterbiev Fight Preview

Both Bivol and Beterbiev have been flawless in their careers to date, rallying to champion status at light-heavyweight and cementing themselves as pound-for-pound elites.

The previous injury setback to Beterbiev saw Bivol stay busy with a world title defence against Malik Zinad instead, as he rallied to a dominant sixth-round stoppage victory last June.

That impressive performance set up the anticipated match-up with reigning unified champion Beterbiev, with all four belts up for grabs for the eventual victor in Riyadh.

Two of boxing’s best now prepare to put their undefeated resumes and titles on the line in the most mouth-watering battle of 2024 so far and an exciting clash of contrasting styles.

It’s the smooth, free-flowing soviet style of Bivol going up against Beterbiev’s aggressive, relentless pressure and power.

The latter Russian-Canadian is the only world champion in the sport today to boast a 100% knockout ratio in his career with 20 stoppages from all his 20 fights.

Dmitry Bivol returns to Saudi Arabia aiming to become undisputed champion.

Meanwhile, Bivol has established himself as one of the purist master boxers in the ring today, following a run of high-profile triumphs over Canelo Alvarez, Gilberto Ramirez and Lyndon Arthur in recent years.

Beterbiev is also on an eye-catching streak of victories over Callum Smith, Anthony Yarde, Joe Smith Jr and Marcus Browne (all by knockout).

While the undefeated KO artist has been rampaging through the division, he may have seemingly showcased some signs of wear and tear at 39 years of age through injuries.

It's been another long tough camp for the light-heavyweight world champion.

He has also previously been knocked down twice during his 11-year career, against Jeff Page Jr and Callum Johnson, but got up to brutally halt those opponents.

On the other hand, Bivol has never been dropped to the canvas during his ten-year career to date but is yet to have faced anyone as destructive as his long-mooted rival.

So, the stage is now set for one man to rule the light-heavyweight throne and cement their legacy by claiming the undisputed crown in Saudi Arabia. LFG!
